philosophy

Healthy relationships are crucial to the strength and well-being of an individual. First relationships in life greatly influence how we approach situations, develop patterns, and get along with those around us. Our relationships with God, ourselves, our family, friends, and others can be a strong reflection of who we are. My philosophy on counseling involves focusing on your life goals and finding your inner strength to restore your sense of self and propel you toward healthy relationships.

Adlerian Approach

Using the Adlerian approach, I focus on empowering you to achieve the major tasks in your life. You have the right to flourish and pursue your highest potential. Centering on your lifestyle, choices, and aspirations, we will start by agreeing on how to achieve your therapeutic goals. Throughout the course of counseling, we will discuss and measure these goals. Our sessions can heal, strengthen, and position you to live a rich and full life.

Strength-based Counseling

Strength-based counseling is a method that focuses on your strengths, not weaknesses. My purpose is to find the things you are doing right and use those as building blocks to change. I am looking for specific building blocks, with your help, to provide useful and meaningful elements on which to build. I am continually amazed at the hidden strengths that are unique to each and every client.

“My self-esteem was raised, because you helped me find see my strengths and truly believe and respect these strengths.”
– Mary, former client
